Sharon Marsland

Sharon Marsland uses a classical oil painting style influenced by her training in the Russian Impressionist School to produce representational works of Northwest scenes as well as abstractions based on these themes. She studied painting at the Torpedo Factory, Old Town Alexandria, George Washington University, George Mason University, and studied for 2 years with Ron Lukas of the Sergei Bongart Russian Impressionist school of painting. She has received numerous awards and has several paintings in permanent collections.

Painting is an integral and necessary part of my life. The act of holding the brush, loading it with paint and feeling it interact with the canvas is a step into a special place: one in which I am only a participant.

It is like taking a trip and never knowing with each bend in the road what choices will unfold. It is an all-consuming and exciting mystery.
